Keren Alvarado is a LGPC who recently graduated from Capella University. She offers individual and couples therapy utilizing a collaborative approach to wellness. Keren is a proud first-generation Latinx and bisexual mother of two children. Keren was late diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood and is an advocate for navigating neurodiversity in adulthood. She specializes in LGBTQIA+ affirming counseling, gender-affirming care, and neurodiversity-affirming support, guiding clients through life transitions, depression, and anxiety. Passionate about inclusivity and empowerment, Keren creates a safe space where every person can build resilience, explore their identity, and move confidently toward personal growth.

As a recent graduate, Keren is not afraid to authentically collaborate with clients to address their needs. Completing an internship with this practice came with many challenges but also brought many opportunities for learning. Keren feels that her best teachers were her clients, and she is always curious to continue growing on this journey as a therapist, grateful to continue in this practice. She remains committed to empowering diverse communities through inclusive, resilience-centered work.

What is your therapy model or what might a session be like with you?

As a LGPC, I empower folx to discover their authentic selves in a safe and supportive environment. With a passion for multicultural humility, I strive to create a haven where everyone feels seen and valued. My goal as a clinician is to build a strong, collaborative relationship with my clients to work toward their personal therapeutic goals, utilizing emotion-focused approaches, acceptance, mindfulness, and psychoeducation. I find it my duty to guide the client in tapping into their inner strength and resilience. With compassion and empathy, I walk alongside individuals from all walks of life, celebrating their unique journeys and honoring their stories. Together, let's embark on a path of discovery, healing, and empowerment.

I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in DC, license number LPGC200012676 and a resident in counseling in VA, license number 0704019251 . I am supervised by Alethea Collins-Cavanaugh, who is licensed in VA and DC.
